Miners final 2010 home game Sunday!
NEPA Miners prepare for clash against rival Eagles
Scranton, PA, October 6, 2010:
The NEPA Miners and Endless Mountain Security will give away a Big Screen Television and are letting in youth football members for Free who wear their uniform this Sunday Afternoon! Our home town semi-professional football team will conclude the 2010 regular season at Scranton Memorial Stadium, Sunday 3PM to take on the North East Eagles.
The Miners (5-5) are coming off a tough divisional loss to the Philadelphia Panthers two weeks ago and a brief layoff getting a forfeit win from the North East Giants last weekend. A win versus the Birds to finish the regular season would give the Miners their fourth consecutive winning season at 6-5 while playing the role of spoiler knocking the Eagles out of the Playoffs. It looks like the Miners would lose the playoff tiebreaker spot to the Lehigh Valley Storm but the team won’t let that deter them from treating this like a playoff game! “We know the Eagles expect to win and we expect to dash their playoff hopes, it will be a great game,” stated Miners Head Coach Dan LaMagna.
The Miners are looking for big games from the three headed running attack of Justin Piontkowski, Nate Bowden and Dodson Waterton who average 113 yards per game on the ground ranking them fourth in the league. Piontkowski is also fifth in the league in passing with wideouts Tyler Serbin, Davelle Byrd and Bowden leading the team in receiving. On defense, the Miners are led by Anthony Bodtman who leads the league with 7 interceptions and also leads all defensive backs with 34 tackles.
All fans that enter the game can fill out the free entry form and one fan will walk out of the game with a Big Screen Television from Endless Mountain Security. General Admission tickets are $8 and are sold at the gate or at the Mall at Steamtown guest services desk. College Students are $5 with student ID. Miners will also have 2010 team T-Shirts on Sale for $7. Miners fans should be excited and expect another great game Sunday as all Miners home games have been action packed this season, GO MINERS!
